We purchased a fishbowl and some gift cards for the boys to go pick out some fish as a part of their Christmas since we had told them when they were at least 6 years old they could have fish. (Since they are now 7 and 9 we thought we could keep our word:) Dax picked out a fantail goldfish (Finn, named for the Goldfish logo character) and Cole picked out at Calico Fantail (Master Chief, named for Halo) at first. Master Chief made it two days and we now have Master Chief II. When Cole picked him out he did not go back to the Calico aquarium; he chose one from the case from which Finn came. Only he wasn't gold; he is a black moor, a type of goldfish that is black with telescopic eyes.
When the boys picked out the fish they also picked out a sign to decorate the bottom of the bowl that says, "Buried Treasure". (The following was way better if you were there, but I do not want to forget it) Last night, while Cole was feeding the fish after dinner (they are located in the kitchen near the table), David remarked how it looked as if their poo was collecting at the bottom of the bowl behind the sign, as if maybe they were "going" behind the sign. Cole, got this expression on his face, and with perfect delivery and timing, states, "Maybe that is there 'buried treasure'". You could almost audibly make out the sound of the drums in the comedy club. It was comic perfection and we were all laughing, even Korwyn. He definitely has the gift from his Dad (and his aunt) that we all allude to when we say, "leave the funny up to Dad". I try to be funny as do others in our family but nobody quite pulls it off like David and his younger "MiniMe". David later summed it up by stating, "He was so proud to have made a joke about poop in an appropriate manner for which he didn't receive some form of correction.
